Howard Pitcher, 51

      TROY- Howard Donald Pitcher, a Troy resident for 17 years, died Friday at Orofino Hospital, where he had been hospitalized since Oct. 3. He was 51.

     Pitcher was born to Charles and Thelma Pitcher on Jan. 27, 1928 at Cavendish. He married Elma Jean Goffinet at Clarkston on April 23, 1952, and they moved to Troy 10 years later.

     He worked as a mechanic for Troy Tractor until ill health forced him to retire in 1976.

     Pitcher was a member of the Troy Nazarene Church. In addition to his wife, Pitcher is survived by two sons, Don of Orofino and Charles of Troy; a step-son, Darrel Olson of Coeur d'Alene and two step-daughters, Diana and Kay Olson of Vista, Calif.

     He is also survived by two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, and by his mother, Thelma Fisk of Orofino.

     Funeral will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Short's Funeral Chapel at Moscow. The Rev. Mel Skeen of the Nazarene Church at Benton City, Wash. will officiate. Burial will follow at Burnt Ridge Cemetery near Troy.

     The family suggests that any memorials be made to the Troy Ambulance Fund.
